SoCal Breakers 16U (Steele) Qualifies for
2008 ASA-USA Junior Olympic Fastpitch National Championship in Owensboro, KY

After earning a berth to the Pacific Coast Regionals with an impressive 7th place finish at ASA So Cal States, the 16U So Cal Breakers (Steele) team headed to Las Vegas to take on 24 of the top teams in the Region as well as the high temperatures Las Vegas was guaranteed to deliver in July.

Needing a true team effort to battle the elements and competition, all 14 ladies stepped up to the challenge knowing they needed a Top 2 finish to guarantee their spot in Kentucky. After running off 4 straight wins, the ladies suffered their 1st loss to a very deserving So Cal Pumas team. This set up a winner take all battle for the second guaranteed berth with the California Grapettes. Down 3-1 in the bottom of the 7th, this gutsy team dug deep and found a way pull off the come from behind victory.

These ladies have worked hard for many years and we are excited to see them earn their shot at a National Championship! Congratulations!

A Word from our General Manager

The ASA-USA Junior Olympic Girls Fast pitch So Cal Breakers organization consists of three teams, a Girls 18U Gold team and two Girls 16U team. The So Cal Breakers 18U Gold team was established in 2001 and has become one of the top level teams in the Country. The So Cal Breakers 16U (Eisenbraun) team was established in 2005 and has already become one of the elite teams in San Diego County. The So Cal Breakers 16U (Steele) team was established in 2007.

The So Cal Breakers organization is committed to producing the finest softball teams in the nation while increasing its players’ potential in obtaining college scholarships through local, but mostly national exposure while learning sound fundamental skills and maintaining high educational standards. So Cal Breaker players can be found on rosters on high caliber educational institutions.

The So Cal Breakers 18U Gold team under Brant Beddow is highly respected, well coached, has community support and has positive parent participation. This team is highly visible throughout Southern California, playing most weekends against the top teams and in the most competitive tournaments throughout the year. The gold team also participates in the ASA-USA Junior Olympic Gold Softball Championship.

The So Cal Breakers 16U team under Matt Eisenbraun has already established themselves in the short time they have been together. The team has already accomplished a berth to the World Series in Utah. The team also plays in the highly competitive tournaments throughout the year and participates in showcases as well as ASA-USA championship play.

The organization is well known by major colleges and plays in showcase tournaments attended by college coaches and recruiters. This year’s schedule for both the 18U Gold and 16U team includes the Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tournament in Boulder, Co, as well as attending several places such as Sacramento, Oklahoma, Lancaster, Las Vegas, etc. Our Fall schedule for both teams include the Batbuster (Tyronne) “Fall Classic”, San Diego Renegades “America’s Finest City”, Worth Tournament of Champions, Orange County Batbuster (Haning) “Oktoberfest” and “Pre-Thanksgiving” Showcases as well as participating in the Champions Cup.

The major goal for BOTH teams will be to qualify and attend the 2008 ASA-USA Jr. Olympic Girls Fast pitch National Tournaments in Oklahoma for 18U Gold and Sioux Falls, SD for the 16U team.

The teams have players from different high schools and represent a cross section of both the community and most ethnic groups. Our current players come from several different Southern California Counties. Each Player has been selected for high work ethic, team citizenship and academic achievement, as well as her ability to play various positions.
